Families who have working parents who are not able to get work through their employer are usually eligible for this program. The majority of children that are covered through the program come from working families. Children are covered up until their nineteenth birthday. If your family is already covered by Medicaid then you are not eligible for this program. It's not difficult to apply for the program. In most states, there is a short application to be completed. In most states, you can even apply over the phone without having to take time off from work.
